This digital library was created by students at Simmons University School of Library and Information Science as a culminating project for LIS-462-OL: Digital Libraries, Fall semester, 2019.

Committees

Content Committee:  Andrew Castrenze*, Peggy Calkins, Daniel Fish, Amie Grosshans, Susan Kennedy, Catherine Sebastian, Jennifer Willis

The Content committee conducted research into our scrapbook, the family that created it, and the historical context.  They also came up with a name and logo for our website.


Digital Preservation Committee:  Kristen Dabney, Sam Dodgen, MarnĂ© Garcia*, Cody Mansley, Jennifer Willis

The Digital Preservation committee identified ways of preserving the information and digital objects in our digital library, and created and implemented a preservation plan.


Digitization Committee:  Andrew Castrenze, Sarah Goss*, Allie Williams

The Digitization committee spent time at the beginning of the project scanning and digitizing each page and removable item from the Loring-Dresel Family Paper Dollhouse.


Environmental Scan Committee:  Andrew Castrenze, Sam Dodgen, Daniel Fish*, Catherine Shaw, Samantha Mullaly

The Environmental Scan committee identified digital libraries for study and comparison, and created a survey for the class to determine which features of these digital libraries would be most important to our project.


Evaluation Committee:  Alyssa Cancelmo, Sarah Kim, Cody Mansley, Catherine Sebastian*

The Evaluation committee created metrics for measuring the functionality, usability, and accessibility of our website, implemented methods for testing these metrics, and provided recommendations for alterations based on the results.


Metadata Committee:  Peggy Calkins, Kristen Dabney, MarnĂ© Garcia*, Sarah Goss, Sarah Kim, Adriana Pohl

The Metadata committee organized and prepared all of the administrative, technical, and descriptive data about our scrapbook and each of its pages using the Dublin Core metadata schema.


Rights Management Committee:  Amie Grosshans, Charlie Lewis*, Samantha Mullaly, Iman Ogiste-Wright, Catherine Shaw

The Rights Management committee investigated issues surrounding rights, copyright, and ownership of our scrapbook, and developed the Terms of Use policy.


Systems Committee:  Alyssa Cancelmo, Susan Kennedy, Charlie Lewis, Iman Ogiste-Wright, Adriana Pohl*, Allie Williams

The Systems committee created the public-facing website to house our digital library, collected and uploaded content from other committees, and made decisions about site design, accessibility, and software enhancements,
