The Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book
The Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book is a box set of six booklets that was published in 1965 by Luden's, the candy and cough drop company founded by William H. Luden in Reading, PA in 1879.
The 11-page booklets include "Cakes, Filling, and Frostings," "Candies," "Cookies," "Pies and Pastries," "Sweets and Sours," and "Vegetables and Salads." The book and each booklet’s cover also feature illustrations resembling Pennsylvania Dutch Fraktur folk art.
You can view each page and the accompanying metadata for each of these booklets by selecting them in the gallery below.
Together with the box of recipe cards, these recipe books provide a more in-depth look at traditional Pennsylvania Dutch recipes that have been passed down to contemporary families living in Pennsylvania.
