Black Walnut Cookies
3 | 6 c sifted flour 2 c.
½ | 1 tsp. salt ⅓ t.
¼ | ½ tsp. soda ⅛ t
½ | 1 tsp. cream of tartar ⅓ t
1 ¾ c. butter ½ oz
9 oz | 2 ½. brown sugar, firmly packed
¼ | ½ c. sugar
2 | 3 eggs 1 egg
1 | 2 tsp. vanilla ¾ t.
¾ | 1 ½ c. black walnut meats ½ c
¾ | 1 ½ c. shredded coconut ½ c
Sift flour, measure, sift
again with salt, soda +
cream of tartar.
Cream butter, add sugar
gradually. Beat until
fluffy, Add eggs + vanilla.
Grind nuts + coconut
together until fine.

Transcription (back):
Add to creamed mixture.
Add sifted flour mixture.
Blend well. Chill. Shape
into 4 rolls about 2 in.
in diameter. Wrap in
waxed paper or foil. Chill
cut rolls into ⅛ in. thick
slices + place on ungreased
cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 10–12 min.
Makes 8-9 dozen.
