Transcription (front):
1 ½ c. shortening 9 oz.
2 c. sugar 1 ½ c.
½ c brer rabbit ⅜
2 eggs 1 ½
4 t. baking soda 3t
4 c. sifted flour 3
1 t. cloves ¾
1 t. ginger ¾
2 t. cinnamon 1 ⅓
1 t. salt ¾
Meet shortening in a 3 or 4 qt.
sauce pan over low heat. Remove
from heat, let cool. Add sugar,
molasses + eggs. Beat well. sift
Transcription (back):
flour, soda, spices + salt. Add
to first mixture. Mix well,
chill. Form in 1” balls roll
in gran. sugar + place on greased
cookie sheets. 2” apart. Bake in
moderately hot oven. 375° 8-10
