With our newly approved grant, we&#8217;re out to establish a strong offering with a new teen advisory board, liaisons with local schools, a bigger materials budget and more programming. This flexible 5 hour\/week paid internship runs for one semester but is renewable upon re-application.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>*Designing, implementing and evaluating programs, including video game nights.<\/span><br \/><span>*Assisting and occasionally running teen advisory board meetings.<\/span><br \/><span>*Promoting the summer reading program through school visits.<\/span><br \/><span>*Honing readers advisory skills designing displays and booklists.<\/span><br \/><span>*Helping plan for Teen Read Week (October 13-19) and National Novel Writing Month (November).<\/span><br \/><span>*Exploring effective social media promotion for teens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Qualified Candidates will:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>*be enrolled in an ALA-accredited library school<\/span><br \/><span>*possess a strong desire to serve young adult patrons<\/span><br \/><span>*have completed or be taking in the fall Simmons GSLIS&#8217;s course LIS 483 Young Adult Literature (or equivalent).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>To apply:<\/span><br \/><span>Submit a resume and brief cover letter stating your availability to:<\/span><br \/><span>Katherine Grimm Bowers<\/span><br \/><span>Sunderland Public Library<\/span><br \/><a href=\"mailto:katherinegrimmbowers@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">katherinegrimmbowers@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Position Title: Teen Librarian Intern Closing Date: 9\/15\/13Job Type: Paid InternshipWages: $10\/hr Location: Sunderland Public Library, Sunderland, MA The Position: Help us spend $15,000 in two years through a LSTA Tweens &amp; Teens Grant, picking up library skills and experience while bringing improved services to a rural teen population.
