America’s Test Kitchen Library Intern Position<\/b><\/div>\n

This 4-5 hour\/week position is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience in all facets of small special library management. <\/span><\/p>\n

This is an unpaid (but rewarding) opportunity to work as a librarian in a special library. You will gain hands-on experience with the organization and management of a library, work with a wonderful (and growing) culinary collection (about 4,000 books, plus magazines), and make a positive contribution to a fascinating organization. <\/span><\/p>\n

?<\/span><\/p>\n

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF POSITION:?<\/span><\/p>\n

-Process (catalog, enter into database, shelve) new items?<\/span><\/p>\n

-Help ATK staff find books?<\/span><\/p>\n

-Answer reference questions?<\/span><\/p>\n

-Maintain catalogs <\/span><\/p>\n

-Weed as necessary?<\/span><\/p>\n

-Keep circulation statistics?<\/span><\/p>\n

-Reshelve returned materials<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:?<\/span><\/p>\n

-Flexibility in schedule?<\/span><\/p>\n

-Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and to climb on step stool to reach top shelves; ability to carry books up and down a spiral staircase.<\/span><\/p>\n

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:?<\/span><\/p>\n

–<\/span>BA\/BS or equivalent<\/span><\/p>\n

-Currently enrolled in a Library Science program<\/span><\/p>\n

-Understanding of Cataloging and Reference work<\/span><\/p>\n
