The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles (JFLA), seeks a friendly, innovative and enthusiastic librarian to be responsible for providing library and research services, maintaining the information center and its collections, and conducting outreach programs utilizing our information center’s collection.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

[JOB TITLE]: Librarian<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

[HOURS]:? 35 hours per week. Assignment hours include both evening and weekend shifts based on the needs of JFLA<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

[REPORTS TO]: Deputy Director<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

[SALARY RANGE]:Commensurate with experience<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

[JOB DESCRIPTION]<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1.???????????? Provide hospitality to JFLA patrons and visitors<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.???????????? Provide library services in response to the needs of information center users<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.???????????? Plan and coordinate outreach programs utilizing the collection of the information center with outside organizations<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4.???????????? Plan and coordinate events for information center users and local community<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5.???????????? Maintain the organization of information center materials<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

6.???????????? Provide effective access to information center collections and resources by maintaining the catalog of materials<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

7.???????????? Manage the planning, administrative, and budgetary functions of the information center<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

8.???????????? Perform other related duties assigned by Director or Deputy Director<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

[QUALIFICATIONS]: BA or BS degree required, plus three years of library experience or relevant information and public service experience.? Area studies MA or MLIS desirable but not required.? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

[REQUIREMENTS]:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1.????????????????? Native level English and business level Japanese language skills<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.????????????????? A passion for customer service<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.????????????????? Excellent organizational skills<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4.????????????????? Willingness to work and share in a team environment<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5.????????????????? Strong motivation to serve others, and work to benefit international society and culture<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

6.????????????????? The ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

7.????????????????? Must have the ability to quickly learn new information technology systems and then be able to train other staff members on those systems<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

8.????????????????? Expertise in Library management and online research<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

9.????????????????? Broad knowledge and interest in Japanese society and culture<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

10.???????????? Basic accounting skills<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
