(If?<\/span><span>you are not a member, you can join now. See the?welcome?page?to learn how.)<\/span><br \/><span>??????????Applicants must be currently enrolled in a graduate (doctoral or?<\/span><span>Master&#8217;s) program.<\/span><br \/><span>??????????Applicants may not have previously won the SIG ED graduate student?<\/span><span>travel award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Administration<\/span><br \/><span>The SIG ED Student Travel Award is sponsored by SIG ED and is administered?<\/span><span>by the SIG ED Award Jury comprised of the Chair, Chair-Elect(s), and Program?<\/span><span>Coordinator of SIG ED.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Applications<br \/>??????????Applicants should submit the following items, by email, to Laura?Christopherson <a href=\"mailto:llchrist@email.unc.edu\">[llchrist at email dot unc dot edu<\/a>] ?by the deadline of?July?15, 2013.<\/p>\n<p><span>Applications should include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>? ? A cover letter including name, address, phone number, email address,?<\/span><span>academic affiliation. The cover letter should identify the attached?<\/span><span>statements as being submitted specifically for this award.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>? ? A curriculum vitae.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>? ? A 300-word statement on why Annual Meeting attendance will benefit the?<\/span><span>student in his\/her pursuit of a future career.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Deadline:?<\/span><span>The deadline for application is?July 15, 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Selection:<\/span><br \/><span>The content of the 300-word statement expressing the student&#8217;s need to?<\/span><span>attend the Annual Meeting will be appraised in terms of originality, clarity?<\/span><span>of expression, and how successfully the student addresses the relevance of?<\/span><span>attending the Annual Meeting as a means to a career. This appraisal will be?<\/span><span>coupled with an assessment of where the greatest financial need falls among?<\/span><span>applicants as evidenced by the CV.?<\/span><span>Submitted 300-word statements will be scored on a 100-point scale, with a?<\/span><span>maximum of 75 points awarded based on content and originality, and 25 points?<\/span><span>based on clarity of expression. The winner of the travel award will be?<\/span><span>determined by the highest average scores on the statement and the strongest<\/span><br \/><span>indication of financial need.
