Paid Internship for Library Student Interested in Teen Services

The Wayland Library has received an LSTA grant for “Serving Tweens and Teens” to start in October 2013.??The grant includes funding for a part-time intern to work during after-school hours with our teens in a newly created teen space. The intern will help us create a “Maker Space” for teens in our library.??The ideal candidate for this internship would be a current library science student with a specialty in teen services and a familiarity with young adult literature.?This intern must be able to connect well with teens, be comfortable with social media, be familiar with portable devices (like ipads), have both ability and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and computer programs, particularly Adobe Creative Suite and 3D printing. Other tasks would include working to improve the Teen Page on the library’s website.?

Schedule will be two 3-hour afternoon shifts during the school year during the duration of the two-year grant. Pay is $15 an hour. More hours (unpaid) are possible if part of an internship or independent study.
